About

A community for people building a more open social internet, in and around Amsterdam.

Why we exist

On the AT Protocol, your identity is a domain name, your data lives in a repository you control, and apps compete on what they offer rather than on what they lock in. We think that idea deserves a room in Amsterdam: a place to meet the people behind the projects, compare notes, and help newcomers find their way in.

Everyone is welcome: protocol veterans, application builders, researchers, and the simply curious. Come say hello. Beyond the city, atproto.nl gathers the wider Dutch community.

How this site is built

This site practices what the community preaches. It is a static site generated with Gleam and Lustre, and its source lives on Tangled, a code forge built on the AT Protocol.

It deploys to wisp.place, a static host that stores the site's files in an atproto repository. Our events are community.lexicon.calendar.event records published through Smoke Signal, so any app that speaks the lexicon can pick them up.
